The Tequito: Refreshing Summer Cocktail

Hello!  Today is the last day in our summer cocktail series!  I have thoroughly enjoyed every week of this collaboration with my fellow creative bloggers.  Today I am sharing The Tequito!  Not to be confused with the taquito (little taco) which is like a little rolled, fried flauta.  No, my friends, The Tequito is a combination of a mule (with TEQUila) and a mojITO= TEQUITO.

First of all, you can thank my husband for the name.  He is REALLY good at naming things.  He named our first born child, my blog, the Caballo de Mayo and now The Tequito.

I am all about making up cocktails with whatever have have in my house.  I am crazy busy and live out in the country, so I have to make the best out of what I have.  Funny enough, the liquor store is closer to my house than the grocery store, but I don’t have time to run out to the store to make a cocktail.  We also live in MD, so I can’t buy any alcohol at a grocery store or Costco 🙁  Seriously, that is one thing I miss about living in Virginia.  I used to buy wine at the same time as I buy diapers!

We had the lime and mint from making mojitos and I had a giant bottle of tequila from when we made the Caballo de Mayo back in May.  Since ginger beer is a staple in my kitchen, I had that as well.  Viola!  The Tequito is born!

What You Need:

Tequila

Ginger Beer

Mint

Lime

How to Make The Tequito:

Muddle the lime and mint with a bit of ice in a glass.  Add 2-3 oz of tequila and top with ginger beer.  Stir and garnish with a lime.

This is a super simple recipe that is a perfect refreshing summer cocktail.  It has a fresh taste with the mint and lime and the tequila goes well with the ginger beer.  This is quickly becoming one of my favorite cocktails.  And the fact that tequila has probiotic properties and is good fur gut health is another great reason to try this!

What a clever name! I love really anything with tequila in it. Thank you so much for joining in week after week. I always loved seeing what cocktails you made. Can’t wait for the fall cocktail series.
