Three Ways to Use Cinnamon Brooms

Happy Fall!  Do you get that whiff of cinnamon and orange when you walk into the grocery store these days?  If your local store is anything like mine, they are already selling cinnamon brooms and pinecones and they smell divine!  Today I am sharing three ways to use a  cinnamon broom for Fall or Halloween decor.

Apparently cinnamon brooms are great for keeping bugs away, so I love using them on our front porch to help keep it bug-free.  Nothing better than functional decor, am I right?!

Witches’ Broom

Let’s start with an idea for Halloween.  I made a few signs from a summer clearance item that I upcycled into Halloween decor!  Check out the video HERE.

For this project, I am using Chalk Couture.  If you don’t know about Chalk Couture, START HERE.   Chalk Couture makes reusable stencils (called transfers).  They also make removable chalk paste, permanent ink, surfaces and accessories to make up-scale DIY home decor.

Using a cinnamon broom as a witches’ broom might be a bit obvious, but you can totally play it up and have fun with it.  I love all the phrases on THIS TRANSFER from Chalk Couture.   HERE is another great Halloween phrases transfer as well.

This year, I used the new Glow in the Dark paste.  This looks SOOOOO cool at night!  All you have to do is mix a little of the glow in the dark paste with any color paste you’d like.   For this, I used bumblebee paste to mix with the glow in the dark paste.  I painted the paste onto the round and allowed it to dry.  Then I used THIS transfer and applied a combination of black and gray chalk paste for the witch!

Cinnamon Broom Gnomes

This idea is fun and whimsical! Make gnomes out of the cinnamon brooms.  I found two smaller brooms (unscented) at the craft store.  I wanted a variety of sizes for my gnomes, but you could definitely do this with multiple brooms of the same size.
This is also a fairly simple project. Use fabric around the handle of the broom. I used the sleeves of an old sweater that was in our donation bag.  I wrapped the excess of the fabric around the back side of the broom handle and then hot glued it to stay in place.
Watch the VIDEO HERE.
Add a pretty bow to the top of the gnome hat and add a nose.  For the nose of the gnomes, I used faux white pumpkins.  They look adorable and can be used to decorate inside or outside!

Fall Wreath Alternative

Let’s face it- a grapevine wreath form is going to cost more than $5.  Using a cinnamon broom as an alternative to a wreath is a brilliant idea.  Simply insert fall florals and add a bow.  It really is that simple and it looks amazing.
Check out this VIDEO to see how easy this was to make!
Nothing better than functional decor, am I right?!

Decorating with cinnamon brooms is easy and fun.  The best part is the smell!  Not only do they look pretty, but smell amazing!
